An Espanyol supporter was arrested for racially abusing Adama Traore during the Europa League clash with Wolves on Thursday.
The fan was removed from the stands and proceeded to police custody for alleged monkey chants aimed at the former Barcelona winger.
‘We’ve arrested a 24-year-old man from Spain on suspicion of racially aggravated abuse following chanting at the Wolves v Espanyol match yesterday,» read a statement from the West Midlands police.
«He remains in police custody for questioning.
«Any form of discrimination is unacceptable and will not be tolerated,» it added.
The police also mentioned that three fans were attacked outside the stadium before the game kicked off, but escaped without serious injuries.
